Every bill in JustPayMe has a status that reflects where it is in the payment lifecycle.
Draft means the bill has been created but no chases have been scheduled yet. Active means at least one chase is scheduled and the bill is being tracked. Overdue means the due date has passed and the bill remains unpaid — this is when chasing becomes most important. Paid means the bill has been marked as settled, either manually or via a payment sync.
Only overdue bills trigger automatic policy chases. If a bill is active but not yet overdue, any policy-driven chases will be queued but not sent until the appropriate time relative to the due date.
Bill Status
Bills move through several statuses: Draft (not yet sent to client), Active (sent, awaiting payment), Overdue (past due date, unpaid), and Paid. Only overdue bills trigger chase reminders.
